This Is Halloween - A Dark Fantasy Burlesque Musical Tacoma Theatre reviews
Disappointing...not worth your time or money!
I was somewhat disappointed with various aspects of the show, starting with their choice of cast. The leading roles should have been exceptional singers/actors, yet they were merely satisfactory, nowhere close to the finest. The standout performers were only Raul and Madame Giry. The sets were less impressive this time around compared to the previous production at the Bob Carr. Additionally, the choreography was lacking significantly, with prolonged periods of characters standing motionless on stage. The show omitted key scenes like the fight between the phantom and Raoul and the dance between the Phantom and Christine. It was surprising to see alterations to parts of the story, such as the absence of the connection between the Phantom and Christine. Rather than Madame Giry saving the phantom and hiding him in the opera house, they depicted the phantom as an escaped villain who committed murders. This portrayal left no room for sympathy towards the Phantom and showcased Christine's constant fear of him throughout the show. Ultimately, it is preferable to watch the film adaptation than to attend this rendition on Broadway.
